Han steers China to Uzbek win

MACAU - China bounced back from Saturday's defeat at the hands of Australia to defeat Uzbekistan 3-1 and put their AFC Asian Cup preparations back on track.

Two goals from Han Peng and an own goal by Botir Karaev relieved some of the pressure on under-fire coach Zhu Guanghu, whose side will face the Uzbeks again in Group C of the Asian Cup finals in Malaysia in July.

Han gave China the lead in the sixth minute when he met Dong Fangzhou's cross from the left to steer home from close range.

Four minutes from the interval, Han doubled China's lead with a header following a cross by Mao Jianqing.

Twenty minutes after the restart Mao's shot led to China's third goal, the ball coming back off the post before hitting Karaev and crossing the line.

With 14 minutes to go, Vladimir Shishelov reduced the deficit when he beat Li Leilei in the Chinese goal but it was to prove too little too late for the Uzbeks.
